Trump Has Given Up On The Pandemic-- The World Has Given Up On Trump
*Opposition Research by Nancy Ohanian* Señor Trumpanzee has officially reached out to crazy right-wing governor Kristi Noem (R-SD) to find out what the process is for getting his likeness added onto Mount Rushmore. I'm not joking. I wonder how long it would take to dynamite it. Trump, apparently, doesn't understand it is supposed to represent the greatest and more admired American presidents, not the worst and most despised president. Last week, the U.S. breezed through the 5 million confirmed cases mark. Because of Trump and his enablers another 63,246 cases were confirmed on Frid... more »

Why Europe can’t support protests in Belarus
Democratic values, once a bright idea, have become a stone on the neck of Europe, which is dragging it into the abyss of chaos. Now there is a chance to fix it. The indigenous Hawaiian people probably do 'protesting' as well as anyone I've seen. They connect the issues to the spirit world and use traditional dance and song as a key part of their expression. It helps unify and inspire one another in a good way. I lived in Hawaii for 18 months while in the Air Force and got a tiny bit of exposure to the traditional people so when I watch videos like this one it touches me to my core. Bruce

ALMA's Stellar Egg Hunt Finds A Truly Newborn Star
Though telescopes are anathema to environmental groups in the United States, Chile still desires multicultural, high-paying, white collar jobs, and so the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) continues to carry the water for science in the north. ALMA recently took a census of stellar eggs in the constellation Taurus and their evolution state in order to better understand how and when a stellar embryo transforms to a baby star deep inside a gaseous egg. They also found a bipolar outflow, a pair of gas streams that could be telltale evidence of a truly newborn star. ... more »

Why Isn't AI More Widely Used?
That's the question that Wired asked last month, and it's important to consider because even as a truckload of ed tech folks are "predicting" (aka "marketing") a future in which ed tech is awash in shiny Artificial Intelligence features that read students minds and develop instantaneous perfectly personalized instructional materials. Why is it, do you supposed, that AI is being thrust at education even as private industry is slow to embrace it? The article looks at a study of data from a 2018 US Census survey. What they found was that only 2.8% of companies had adopted any form of "... more »

How Attacking Essential American Values is Dangerous to Our Freedom
*Timothy Goeglein, Craig Osten* *Society, Americas* If future generations are going to enjoy the freedoms we have cherished, we must return to the moral framework that made these freedoms possible in the first place. After all diverting the core task of child rearing to elderly frees up the labor of the young inside the natural community.
